  Transportation expenses other than those mentioned above, transportation expenses after checking out at the end of the second night, etc. Some examples include: (1) Excess baggage fees (items exceeding the specified weight, volume, or number). The Charm of Nikko

Nikko has a deep religious history closely connected with nature, having developed over more than 1,200 years.
During the Edo period, Nikko was home to the tomb of Tokugawa Ieyasu, revered as the Toshogu Daigongen, and the “Nikko Kaido” (Nikko Highway) was established as the route for successive shoguns and feudal lords to visit.
In the mid-19th century, many foreign embassies built summer retreats along the shores of Lake Chuzenji.
Foreign diplomats were drawn to the area’s natural beauty and the coolness of the summer climate.
Tourist attractions in Nikko, including the Nikko Toshogu Shrine, the Sleeping Cat, the Three Monkeys, Irohazaka, Mount Nantai, Ryuzu Falls, and Nikko Futarasan Shrine, are said to number around 500.

    Nikko is renowned for its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty, boasting about 500 tourist spots, including Nikko Toshogu Shrine, Sleeping Cat, Three Wise Monkeys, Irohazaka, Mt. Nantai, Ryuzu Falls, and Nikko Futarasan Shrine. Here are some of the best ones you should definitely visit.

  • Nikkozan Rinnoji Temple

    Located at the entrance to Oku-Nikko, Lake Chuzenji has a circumference of about 25 km and a maximum depth of 163 m. From the Meiji period to the early Showa period, it was a popular summer resort for foreigners.

  • Nikko Kaido Cedar-lined Road

    The world’s longest tree-lined avenue, a towering green curtain stretching 37km into the sky

  • Kirifuri Plateau

    Kirifuri Plateau is a plateau area at an altitude of about 1,200m that spreads out on the slopes of Mt. Akanagi. It is a treasure trove of alpine plants and can be enjoyed throughout the four seasons.

    This shrine preserves the three Nikko mountains as sacred mountains, and is made up of three shrines: the main shrine, the Chugushi shrine, and the Okumiya shrine. It is known as a shrine that grants blessings in falling in love each other, and the Shinkyo Bridge that decorates the entrance to Nikko Sannai is a structure of Futarasan Shrine.

  • Nikko Tamozawa Imperial Villa Memorial Park

    A part of the former Edo residence of the Kishu Tokugawa family (the current three-story A part of the three-story structure) was relocated to the villa of the Meiji-era banker Kobayashi Nenpo, who was born in Nikko. It was used by three generations of emperors and crown princes, including Emperor Taisho.
